IDSA is of the Chain... and I Missed It

I thought Chairman MaoXian was nuts jumping in IDSA this morning since it was already up around 500% this month. Silly me... now it's up about 700% for the month. He caught a nice 10 point ride in that bad boy today. (You da man Chairman!) I'll be kicking myself all weekend for not even pulling it up on my screen, much less jumping on board. (Then I would have at least known it was running b/c alerts would have been going off as it repeatedly hit new highs.) Argh!

Still No Volume

The NASDAQ and the SOX continue to float upward towards their 50-day moving averages on light volume. That kind of action is not very inspiring. It's been pretty boring this week except for the drama in the education stocks (ESI) and all the biotech action. There's been a lot of good news on the cancer drug front from the likes of BIIB, IMCL, and DNA. That sector, as defined by the Biotech HOLDRS (BBH) is looking great. It hit a new 3 year closing high today.

Pump Up the Volume

We got a little bit of a bounce yesterday, but the volume was severely lacking. The market, especially the NASDAQ, has felt real heavy the last few days. It certainly seems like this is going to be a bounce that does nothing but provide upticks to be shorted. I think we'll get a couple of more days of lift before hitting the wall. There are still a lot of good looking (bullish) charts out there, many of which completed morning star-like patterns yesterday. I'm keying on those type of moves for now, but looking to close out with a quickness.

Round Trip

After today's thrashing the NASDAQ is basically flat for the year. So far this year it's been up 150 points and now is 146 points off of the high. It seems like my concerns about the NASDAQ were correct, it just took a couple of weeks to play out. The NASDAQ is back below its 50-day moving average, is making lower highs and lower lows and its OBV is pretty weak. So there's not much to be bullish about in tech land right now. I do expect some kind of bounce around this level though. We should have support from the 2000 level just because it's a round number as well as the fact that it's near the 2003 highs. But after that bounce I'll definitely be looking for shorts.

NASDAQ Daily Chart

The S&P 500 still looks pretty good on the daily chart. But the weekly charts of all of the indices are begging for a correction.

After the choppiness last week, I see very little in the daily charts that I'm excited about trading today. It looks like *they're* gonna gun the Chinese Internet stocks today (see SINA and NTES) so I may try to jump on one of those for a quick intraday ride. I guess that makes me one of *them*. :-)
