Watchlist for December 30, 2004

There's not much on my swing lists today and that's fine with me because I really don't want to do much in this light volume. I'll be content to just manage my stops on my current positions. I may make a sale or two just to free up some cash that's been tied up in positions that are just going sideways.

Currently holding:

Long - ADBE, CME, DVA, EYET, IACI, THQI

Short - None

Looking for swing trade entries in:

Longs - JBL, NTGR (This got mentioned in IBD today and is gapping up. The story seems more negative than positive to me. But what do I know about fundamental mumbo jumbo???), OI

Shorts - MOS

Potential day trades:

(From Briefing.com)

Gapping Down

HLR -12% (expects to file its 2003 10-K by mid-January after NYSE advised it needed it by today), ESST -10% (lowers guidance below consensus), HITK -8.4% (SEC investigating trades by officers and directors), TORC -31% (defaults on loan agreement for failure to make quarterly payment).

Gapping Up

CTRX +30% (FDA approves Ventavis for pulmonary hypertension; Piper raises tgt to $16 from $10), YDIW +15% (seen as a play on ANTP, but we're not seeing a connection since cos terminated merger 6 weeks ago), OLAB +12.5% (seen as a tsunami play, but we see connection as a stretch), ZICA +12.5% (licenses embedded text input technologies to Flextronics), VWPT +10%, TAYD +6.4% (tsunami play continues momentum as death toll rises), TASR +3% (continuation of 9.4% move yesterday; mentioned on CNBC), XXIA +2.4% (momentum from 14% move yesterday), SIRI +1.9% (bounce from 7% drop yesterday).... Under $3: Mad Cow stocks up on possible new mad cow case in Canada: VITX +17%, EMRG +13%.... Other News: HOFF +146% (announces major pipeline contract), MAHI +12.5%, AATK +12.3%, CMGI +8.5% (continues yesterday's 20% move).
