IBD has been running a series of articles about when to sell stocks. For those that have read "How to Make Money in Stocks" this is nothing new but the articles may be a good refresher course:
- Selling Short Can Work - With The Right Rules, Stocks - essentially an ad for "How to Make Money Selling Stocks Short"
- Sell When A Stock Sinks Below Its 50-Day On Big Trade
- Take Profits When Stock Rebounds Weakly After Sell-Off
- Sell, Or Swing For Fences? Consider Size Of Gain, Market
- Stocks That Dwell Below 50-Day Tend To Warn Of Sell-Off Ahead

Wow! Sounds almost like time to buy! Sentiments are tricky too guage, but it serves a nice irony when the article sentiment shifts to the direction the market has been going just as it finally stops going that direction.
Was IBD talking about cup and handle purchases on December 30, 2004? Not that I am one to talk, as I had bought some stuff that is down a bit around that time! I'm still buying here and there and will buy a bit lower should we see that.
You may be right Jason. I think it all depends on how stocks act as they test their 50 DMAs. I'll reserve judgment until I see how that goes.
