Gapping Down

Gapping down on disappointing earnings/guidance: PLAB -12%, ANF -7%... Other News: TMTA -8% (downgraded to Sell at AG Edwards on valuation), EXEL -4.3% (stock offering), PD -3% (copper traded lower overnight as stockpiles of the multi-tasking metal continue to increase), DCEL -3.6% (started with a Sell at Soleil; tgt $3), CME -2.3% (CBOT Holdings says it will go ahead with IPO), ERICY -1.6%.

Gapping Up

Gapping up on strong earnings/guidance: HPQ +8.7% (also multiple upgrades: BofA, Bear Stearns, First Albany, Pru), AMAT +4.4% (up in sympathy: LRCX +2.1%, NVLS +1.9%, KLAC +1.3%), BCSI +15% (also Wachovia upgrade), HURC +11%, CHRS +8%, JWN +3.8%... Other News: WFII +13% (receives Blanket Purchase Agreements for RFID from Defense Dept), SYNC +5% (selected by Vivo as wireless email provider), NXTP +3% (speculation that Sprint preparing to acquire NXTP)... Under $3: POCC +35% (to sell LPG assets), SMTX +54% (extends yesterday's 42% move), INSM +11% (CFO resigns).

  • 09:51 Market's acting like it wants to rally but I'm not doing a damn thing until after that oil report at 10:30

  • 10:13 CMED, a recent IPO which is a Chinese medical play, keeps creeping higher
