Watchlist for September 30, 2005

Let's see if we can get some follow-through on yesterday's strength. I'll be watching some semiconductor stocks on the heels of the Micron (MU) news.

Potential swing trades:

Gapping Up

CTIB +59% (gets plastic film patent), SFNT +21% ($150 mln Defense contract), ENWV +12% (mgmt sees no reason for the stock's volatility), PCNTF +9% (Vantage Corp to buy stake), CYTO +8% (positive clinical data), LWSN +8% (reports AugQ), MU +6% (reports AugQ; Merrill upgrade), IPG +6% (reports results), GEPT +6% (order with Chicago Police Dept), FTI +5% (Mad Money mention), CRME +3.6% (positive clinical data), RMBS +3.3%, VCLK +3% (updates 2005 guidance for Fastclick acquisition), ESLR +3% (Piper initiates with $10 tgt), LSI +3%, FMD +3% (authorizes 5 mln share repurchase), HTE +1.7%, SNDK +1.6% (co and Sony to develop ultra-small IC recording media)... Intraday Updates:

  • 09:41 I see gravity's kicking in on MNTA early

  • 09:51 DRIV is interesting here as it continues to bounce off of its 200-day moving average

  • 10:12 SIMO's catching fire -- up 12% at the moment

  • 10:45 MRVL is heating up as it rises above its 50-day moving average

  • 10:46 GOOG rising out of a nice 'dummy' spot

  • 10:48 BRCM's testing its 52-week high

  • 11:40 Well I picked up some longs but I don't trust this little Nasdaq pop. The A/D line of the Nasdaq is slightly negative and the index is only up 3 points. The Dow being in the red isn't very inspiring either. Nonetheless, I've reached 1R gains in four of my positions and have already put in just over break-even stops on them. I'm basically flat on GOOG and the initial stop is still in place. So worst case scenario is about a 1R loss for the day. I'm just gonna sit & watch (and manage stops) for the rest of the day.

Strong moves on SNDK and LEXR too. CNVR showing follow-on strength from yesterday.

All on my radar right now waiting for a nice entry.

Michael:

There is talk of INTC being over sold and AMD
being over bought - and that they are "Pairing"
in opposite directions. I'm interested in shorting AMD - If this interests you could you post a chart with comments.

thanks, paul
