Watchlist for March 3, 2006
I just came back into my office after showering and dressing (no, I don’t always trade in my pajamas) just in time to see the futures take a dive. Looks like Intel (INTC) is the culprit. A couple of headlines from Briefing.com:
09:00 INTC Intel reduces Q1 revenue guidance on weaker than expected demand, slight market share loss (20.49 )
Co issues downside guidance for Q1 (Mar), sees revs of $8.7-9.1 bln, down from previous guidance of $9.1-9.7 bln vs. $9.39 bln Reuters Estimates consensus. Co says guidance is “primarily due to weaker than expected demand and a slight market segment share loss. The company expects the first-quarter gross margin percentage to be adversely impacted by the change in revenue. Expenses (R&D plus MG&A) are expected to be lower than previously forecast due to lower revenue- and profit-related spending”.
09:04 AMD Advanced Micro: After INTC warning, AMD sees quick spike lower, then recovers -Update-
Note that INTC mentioned weaker than expected demand and a slight market segment share loss.
Intel losing market share to AMD? Who would have thunk it? ![]()
