Changes to the Site
You may have noticed that the site looks a little different today. That’s because I switched blogging platforms over the weekend from Movable Type to WordPress. I managed to get most of the site rebuilt but there are still some things missing and some broken links. Hopefully I’ll get all that sorted out in the coming days. If you see anything strange on the site, please let me know — especially those of you who are not using a FireFox browser.
Those of you who are subscribed to my feed shouldn’t have to change anything. But if you’re having feed issues please let me know about that too.
If you’re wondering why I changed platforms it was just so that I could do this —
. Just kidding, although that is one small part of it. The main reason is that WordPress is a lot more flexible than Movable Type. The functionality available via its plugins and widgets is almost mind-boggling. Maybe I’ll write more about that later if anybody even cares. For those who are considering starting a blog and don’t want to deal with managing their own server space and configuring software I highly recommend using WordPress.com which gives you free, hosted WordPress blogs. IMHO, it’s a much better way to go than Blogger/BlogSpot (ClogSpot)
P.S. Oh, if the site looks really crazy, like it’s totally unformatted try reloading a couple of times and/or clearing your browser’s cache.

Hello, I’m running Firefox 1.5.0.4, and all of the charts and even this text box run into and under the right menu column. May be something on my end, but I’ve never had this problem at your blog.

Mike - I think it looks great. The only problem I see is that on the old site you had the “tribute to Trader-X” at the top of the page…you know, my picture, bio, and how I impacted your life. Anyway, I am sure it will be back up soon.

I am using the same version of FireFox, and everything looks fine.

Thanks Dan. I’ll look into it. If you’re still here, can you try clearing your cache and/or reloading the page a couple of times. If it still doesn’t look right would you mind telling me what your screen resolution is?

As if to challenge me to look at WordPress, Blogger has been down all morning. I have been unable to post for about four hours now.

X, I’m
at your earlier comment. I’ll get right on that tribute to you.
As for ClogSpot. Go ahead and free yourself man! I started out there back in 2003 and quickly bolted b/c of the same issues you’re having today.

Mike,
The site looks great! I need to switch out of blogger and onto WP. I also need to drop the blogspot address and get the blog on my own web server. I worry about the transfer of charts but understand that it can be done.
Great job, it didn’t take any time to adjust to the new format (that’s a sign of quality).

Mike,
FYI, I am using IE 7 (beta 2) on one of my machines and see the same problem Dan reported. The right side of the center column is behind the right column. Also your banner logo is cut off on the left side. I cleared the cache and that had no effect. Resolution is set at 1024×768.

Jim
