I've been meaning to post my top referrers for a while now. Last September, when I did that survey I was surprised at how many of my regular readers originally found my site via another blog. I had assumed that most people found this site via Google... and with good reason when you look at how many referrals I've had from oh mighty GOOG. But it seems that most of those search engine folks either don't come back or they don't like to fill out surveys. In any event, this is a token of appreciation for all the traffic & link love.
What I find interesting is how low Yahoo search is in the list. For some reason, they refuse to index my site. The only hits I get from Yahoo search are from people searching for "tradermike.net". That in and of itself trips me out. If you already know my domain name why in the world are you searching for it just to get here? What kills me about Yahoo though is that you can do a search for "Trader Mike" and my site is nowhere to be found, yet most of the sites that come up in the results are linking to me. WTF? Is it any wonder why their stock chart is as ugly as it is? :-D
Edit: I had to stick these graphs in as well. Talk about long tail... there were 1,590 referrers in the traffic report I used. From #674 on sent 5 or less visitors.

And here's a pie chart (click to enlarge):
Here are the top 55 referrers from April 1, 2006 through September 30, 2006 (I had to go to 55 to sneak my man Howard in). Take a look through the list and pay a visit to any blogs you're not familiar with.

prick - just took you off my blogroll. Yo're OUT like the METS :)
I knew I should have stopped at 52
All kidding aside - such a great post. Ahead of the curve as always you are and happy to be your pal.
You can't act for shiiit though. I was hoping for a little more than what I have seen.
When was I acting?
I am a bit embarassed that I did not crack the top 10. I will do better. My apologies.
On another note - Yahoo has a seach engine?
At least you weren't waaaay down at 53 like some people.
Yahoo can =;
I heard about that Howard guy - doesn't he have something going on at trading markets?
:((
:d
:o
Dude, the nodoodahs.com is dead. I noticed you did the link to billakanodoodahs.com, but would you mind doing the strikethrough on it and type the new name so no one tries to go to the old site?
Curious, is that a combined rank from both sites?
Hey, I can't believe I beat out Howie!
I guess I need to move Mike's link above my goog ad's in order to get in the top 20 :-? . At least I finished above Yahoo though.
Bill, That rank is only from the old site. Your new site was ranked at #206 with 96 referrals, so I guess you're really about 5 slots higher.
some funnny funny stuff here gents.
go to sleep already!
Pleased to see some recipriocal traffic given the traffic I get coming from tradermike!
Cheers,
DJF
I agree with Fallon (who's still getting over being shaken, not stirred). Glad to be sending traffic over from both locations that made the list (the blog and the website). For all the sources I wonder how many were 2nd halves of round trips? I.e., they started at your site - visited a source - and came back to you?
Next visit I'll buy the 1st and 4th rounds.
Wow, I made your top 20 - I am sure you are the #1 blogging source of traffic on my site (so thank you very much for that). Hey Howard, the METS aren't out yet - Game 6 was great last night, I posted some of my pictures up for you. GO METS!
Right back at you Michael. You've done an amazing job with the blog - it's my first stop every morning. A magnet for the trading community.
My blog is new on the scene -- just wait, I'll eventually crack the top 500, you'll see! \:d/
In all seriousness, I love the analysis; very cool.
Thanks guys
About the "searching for tradermike.net" part. I think I can explain.
My parents, well, let's just say they aren't as technologically savvy as some.
I set them up with a GMail account. Google was their homepage. Every time they wanted to check their mail, they would start up IE, type in "gmail" in the search field and click enter. And then click on the link in the search results to get to GMail.
It could be some people think that's what you're supposed to do.
sorry Pirahna but my az cardinals are already mathematically eliminated.
