Yahoo Boosts E-Mail Storage | As I said when Yahoo stopped counting spam as part of users' email quota, you've gotta love the competition from Google's GMail!
Google Groups 2 Beta | This new version of Google Groups builds on the success of the original Google Groups's searchable Usenet archive. Now, not only can you search and read more than 845 million Usenet postings, you can also stay in touch with friends, family, and colleagues by creating your own web groups, mailing lists, and email newsletters.
ExtremeTech Review of Google's GMail | Their bottom line: So far, so good! We're already loving Gmail and it's only been a few days since we started using it. Since we constantly hop back and forth between Linux and Windows boxes, Gmail is a godsend. We don't have to mess around with local pop3 e-mail clients. We can just open our browser – in Linux or Windows – and get immediate access to all of our e-mail. And, unlike Yahoo or Hotmail, we simply don't have to worry about running out of space. At this point we're only up to 39MB out of our 1GB total.
Once you have a taste of Gmail, you just won't want to go back. We came very close to giving it a 9 in our rating but we're holding out on that until we see the final release.
The Leftover | If you like the Daily Show or the Onion, check out The Leftover. From their about page:
The Leftover was created by a group of young social activists who are committed to the fight against economic, political, and social oppression (lofty ambition, eh?). Our founding group is made up of people of color, women, immigrant, queer, and working class people. We believe that humor and satire are essential tools in the struggle for justice. More importantly for us, though, is to connect political humor to the concrete changes happening on the streets- this is why we have action alerts at the end of articles, feature interviews with grassroots organizers, and maintain a calendar of progressive events and actions that you can take part in. We are also low in carbs and fat free.
PLEASE, READ IT! Do not make us get normal jobs. Some of us get nosebleeds if we sit in a cubicle for too long.
Oh, by the way, if you didn't already know, most of the stuff on this website is SATIRE and REALLY NOT REAL. So don't cite us in your thesis.
