June 11, 2007 Stock Market Recap

Here’s an interview I did last week with Tim from TraderInterviews.com. Tim has built up quite a library of interviews which you can have delivered right to your iPod / iTunes (or whatever podcatcher you use).

I think it’s safe to call today a stalemate between bulls & bears. After being down a little early, then up a little more the market rolled over to close near the flatline. Volume contracted for the second session in a row after the big drop on Thursday.

The Naz tested 2,575 and its broken March trendline and fell back. I’d really like to short it under today’s low with a stop just above today’s high…

The S&P is hovering above the supposedly psychologically important 1,500 level. (Uh, that should be “retRacement” on the chart below.)

Interview with Jimmy Wales, Founder of Wikipedia

Here’s today’s WallStrip Friday Chat, which is an interview with Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia and a former trader. Topics include why wikipedia is (could be?) worth billions but still has no advertising, his for-profit Wikia site, and why he’s thinks search is broken and is planning on challenging Google with Wikia Search.

Interview with James “Rev Shark” DePorre

Be sure to watch today’s WallStrip chat with none other than James “RevShark” DePorre. You may know him from TheStreet.com / RealMoney or from his own site, Shark Investing. If you’re unfamiliar with him, he’s got a great story. In short, he lost his hearing and had to quit his job as an attorney but later found great success as a trader.

An Interview with Me at StockTickr

Last week when Dave posted his interview with “Random” Roger Nusbaum, he mentioned that Roger sent in his responses in record time. Well Dave was nice enough not to mention that my responses came in record time as well — I’m sure I took the longest of all the folks in the interview series to finish the interview. But Dave has the patience of a Buddhist monk and still saw fit to publish my answers. So go check out the interview and feel free to leave comments or questions over there and I’ll be sure to answer them promptly.

P.S. While you’re there, take a look at StockTickr, if you haven’t …

My Interview in the July Issue of TASC Magazine

Be sure to check out the July 2006 issue of Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities Magazine. It contains an interview with some dude who calls himself “Trader Mike” (that would be me). It’s mostly about my transition from swing trading to day trading but it touches on a few other topics as well. An excerpt is available on the TASC website

Be Sure to Read the Dave Landry Interview

New traders especially should read the interview with Dave Landry that was just posted on the StockTickr blog. Dave covers a several topics that I’m always harping on covering with people. In fact, just yesterday a friend (a budding trader) came over and our entire discussion was about stop loss management, the importance of exits, position sizing and (not) micro-managing trades. Dave covers all of those topics and then some in the interview.

As you know, I often post a link to Dave’s weekly swing trading webcast. If you want to go back and check them out the archive of my links is right here. I would think …
